Thun’scher Gucker

It's a special place, because …

… you don't need to climb many steps to get a spectacular view of the Merano basin, the Adige valley and the surrounding mountain landscape. And of course, the botanical gardens are well worth visiting for their magnificent flora and fauna.

Gelateria Sabine

If you ask the locals where you can get the best ice cream in Merano, the answer is sure to be: "Gelateria Sabine." If they don't give you this particular answer, it's because they're unwilling to share the secret of this delicious treat. The best ice cream in Merano is outside the old centre, in a small side street on the other side of the River Passirio.

It's a special place, because …

... The modest exterior of this gelateria is rather deceptive, but as soon as you taste their gelato, you'll be captivated by the delicious taste.

The Tappeiner Promenade

It's certainly one of the most beautiful town promenades in Europe. It runs along the upper edge of the Ladurnerhof vineyards. You can get to it on foot along a narrow, slightly steep road (Via Salita Silvana - Schlehdorfweg), and by then following a woodland path that leads to the Tappeiner Promenade.

It's a special place, because …

… The path offers some spectacular scenic views. Pines, olive trees, magnolias, various types of bamboo, aloes, and many other interesting plants grow along the promenade. A suggestion Stop for a bite to eat at Ristorante Martinstube, in a cellar hewn from the rock.
